Several dozen CODECO (cooperative for the development of the Congo) militia men who arrived in Bunia, capital of the province of Ituri, on the morning of this Friday, September 04, 2020, returned to their bases at the Bedu-Ezekere group. , in the Walendu-Tatsi sector.
These militiamen agreed to return to their bastion after negotiations with the political, administrative and security authorities in Ituri province.
They were transported on board military trucks of the armed forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, FARDC.
Interspersed sources indicate that 3 CODECO militiamen detained at Bunia central prison would be released after these talks between the two parties.
Ferdinand Fimbo Lebilye, mayor of the city of Bunia who confirms this withdrawal, however denies the release of the detained militiamen.
Activities remain paralyzed in the town of Bunia where we can see small groups of people on the various arteries.
It should be remembered that these CODECO militiamen went to the central prison of Bunia when they arrived in the morning, this to demand the release of their companions detained in this prison and their support.
On July 15, this faction of the CODECO militia signed a unilateral act of engagement to put an end to the abuses.
However, they have been accused for a while of being at the base of the atrocities, mainly animal looting, in several villages in the Bahema Banywagi sector (Djugu territory) and Bahema-Sud (Irumu territory).
